We're honored to support pet parents during what is often a deeply stressful and emotional time. We understand that conversations around refunds can feel sensitive, especially when you're already dealing with worry and uncertainty. For that reason, transparency and honesty are extremely important to us, and we want to clearly explain our policy with care and compassion.
II. Understanding Our Services
To provide clarity, let's briefly review how PetAlertLocal works. Once you sign up and pay for a digital search, we immediately launch a locally targeted social media advertising campaign to raise awareness about your missing pet. These are not standard social media posts. They are paid advertisements designed to reach people within your local area who may not already be connected to you.
These ads are shown directly in the feeds of thousands of nearby users who could have critical information. Campaigns begin delivering within minutes of launch, and the advertising costs are paid directly to Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Once these ads begin running, Meta does not reimburse or reverse those charges.
III. Our Refund Policy
Search Campaign Payments: Due to the immediate costs incurred once a search campaign begins, refunds are generally not possible. This is never a decision we take lightly. It is based on fairness and the reality that advertising expenses are paid upfront and spent almost immediately on your behalf. Alongside paid advertising, we provide many tools at no cost, including QR posters, a custom listing on our website, sighting submission forms, and direct support. However, once a paid campaign is active, the associated funds have already been used to increase visibility for your pet.
Supporter Contributions: If you've chosen to become a PetAlertLocal Supporter, thank you 🧡 Your contribution helps sustain our mission and allows us to continue offering resources to families in need. Supporter payments are voluntary contributions, similar to supporting a creator or small community initiative. Because they are not tied to a specific product or service, both one-time and monthly support payments are non-refundable. Monthly support can be canceled at any time, and we make managing or stopping your contribution simple and accessible. We are deeply grateful for your trust and belief in what we do.
IV. Exceptional Circumstances
We recognize that not every situation fits neatly into a standard policy. In rare and exceptional circumstances, we may consider issuing a refund. These situations are reviewed individually and handled with care, empathy, and respect.
Examples may include technical issues that prevented a campaign from launching, an error on our end, or cases where Meta (Facebook or Instagram) failed to deliver the ads. Please note that a pet being found after a campaign has already started, or a change of mind, generally does not qualify, as advertising costs begin accruing almost immediately after launch.
