Frequently Asked Questions

Is PetAlertLocal free to use?

Yes. Creating a lost pet alert, getting a shareable page, QR code, printable posters, and receiving sightings is completely free.

How does PetAlertLocal help find lost pets?

We give you a simple, shareable alert page and QR code that makes it easy for your local community to recognize your pet and submit sightings quickly.

Do I have to pay to find my pet?

No. Paid promotion is optional. Free sharing works on its own, and many pets are found through community visibility alone.

What is optional boosted sharing?

Boosted sharing allows your alert to be shown to more people in your local area through paid promotion. This can increase visibility, but it does not guarantee results.

Who can submit sightings?

Anyone who sees your pet can submit a sighting through your alert page. You'll be notified directly when a report comes in.

Are sightings verified?

No. Sightings are submitted by members of the public. Some may be mistaken or outdated, so we encourage you to use judgment when reviewing reports.

Can I edit or update my alert?

Yes. You can update photos, descriptions, last-seen locations, and mark your pet as found at any time.

What happens when my pet is found?

You can close or mark your alert as found, which removes it from public browsing and stops further notifications.

Is PetAlertLocal responsible for interactions with other users?

No. PetAlertLocal provides the platform for sharing information but does not mediate, verify, or participate in user interactions. Always prioritize your safety when communicating or meeting others.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. You can request account deletion at any time, and all associated data will be permanently removed.
